Many readers complain that Jenny Craig is overly expensive. Save your money and stick with better choices like Nutrisystem or South Beach Diet.

I was 20-30 lbs overweight so I decided to join Jenny Criag. I had to pay $400 something for the membership plus the cost of one week food $150/week... freaking expensive.
I just went in there to inquire but the lady pushed all the papers towards me to sign; I told her that I just wanted to get a quote of how much it will cost me and she said that I have to sign all the papers first and join otherwise she wouldn't be able to tell me the cost of joining the program unless i become a member.
I lost 1 lb the first week and the following weeks I was only losing 1-1.5lb and was very frustrated, imagine paying $150 a week to lose a pound??? Such a RIP OFF!!!
They weren't very helpful, everytime i go there to pick up my one week supply of food, they just weigh me, give me the food and tell me to buy supplements; like what most people say; they are not certified nutritionists, they're just there to sale food and make a commission... this program sucks!!! I didn't get the support I needed. I lost 2 lbs and $3000........ I could have used all that money to go shopping GRRRRRRRRRRRR or for my beauty school, how stupid...
If you are thinking of joining JC, think a million times, read reviews about it first, get opinions from people that were on it....... The people that work for JC, they are not very educated... the lady that was supposed to be my coach did not know anything and was totally useless!!!

I wish I had read Reviews before joining. Twenty years ago, the program had worked very well for me and I was eager to restart. I lasted one week.
1. Diabetic menu. I had informed them I was diabetic. No problem they said. Do not let them tell you they have a menu for diabetics! Their idea of a diabetic menu is to tell you, after the fact, that you can change items on the regular menu, but you won't know what to change until you purchase the expensive item and have the label to check what it is made up of.
2. Counselors. Admitted they have no training regarding the actual food intakes and diets. They are really only sales people. Sold me things I neither wanted nor needed with no up-front admittance the purchase was not mandatory. The Counselor actually told me that in addition to the menu foods, "you also get these bags and books".
Silly me, I thought they were part of the fee I had already paid, but no, they were an additional $68. I didn't want or need manuals at $20 or a lot of other way-overpriced ancilliary items.
3. Food. Generally, not too bad but boy, is it expensive! My one week cost $166.33. Had I continued, the monthly cost would have been over $600. I agree with other Reviews - Jenny Craig's bottom line profit is from overly expensive foods and their actual business is the grocery business.
Jenny - you're not what you were twenty years ago.

I have to agree with all the reviews I've read. The Jenny Craig program and food is overpriced, the counselors are not trained, and every setback was my fault. I was "exercising too much", "not stay on the plan", I ate a corn tortilla and 'changed my body chemistry for the week', "I must be doing something wrong." I was on the program for 9 weeks and lost and gained the same two pounds. I feel cheated and lied to.
