People complain the diet pushes too much red meat and cheese. Although Atkins was a big deal back in the day, it’s just not in the same league with today’s top diets like Nutrisystem or South Beach Diet.

You have many food options on the Atkins. You can season your food differently each time you cook it, and you can cook it a variety of ways. Creativity was one thing we are missing in many of our kitchens. The food industry has made it too easy to just go to the grocers and buy whatever it is you want to eat, no matter what' in it. BUT, that's where the trouble starts.

sorry folks, but I don't agree with anyone who is complaining about this diet..

Atkins will cause you to lose weight, and while some people out there may feel better while on the program, I felt awful. The amount of fat they suggest you ingest and the nearly complete lack of carbohydrates was too much for my body to handle.

My mouth enjoyed the diet, but my body didn't. Saying that you can eat all you like is an inaccurate portrayal of this diet. You must watch the amounts you eat in order to lose weight no matter the diet type you are on, and this diet is no exception.

The program wants you to eat very limited carbohydrates, high amounts of fat, etc. One of the only ways to ensure that you are following the diet fully is to buy the supplements and foods sold under the Atkins' name.

In short, the loss of weight you get is not compensated for by the risks you put your health in, and in order to keep the weight from coming back you will have to remain on some form of this diet forever.

I tried the atkins diet about 5 years ago and weighed 235 lbs. In 7 months i weighed 155 lbs. I was so pleased, but the diet is difficult to make maintain. As soon as I stopped counting the carbs, I started to gain the weight. I was so tired of the diet and eating meat, eggs and cheese. The worst thing I disliked was the constipation. I stopped doing atkins and now I weigh 225 lbs. Its been about 2 yrs. battling with trying to lose the weight again, only healthy.
